Gift Shop Attendant

Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad is currently accepting applications for Gift Shop Attendants. The Gift Shop Attendant plays an important role in providing prompt, efficient, and courteous service to patrons visiting the gift shop, whether at the station or onboard during excursions. Gift Shop Attendants are expected to engage with customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, including assisting in a tour guide capacity when needed, while remaining attentive and monitoring all activities within the gift shop. This position is responsible for collecting payments, addressing patron needs, managing the assigned till throughout the shift, and properly turning it in at the end of the excursion.

In addition to providing excellent customer service, the Gift Shop Attendant helps maintain gift shop inventory by stocking shelves, maintaining cleanliness in work and storage areas, and ensuring all merchandise is orderly and visually appealing. This position may assist with both the station gift shop and onboard gift shop during excursions. Duties may include transferring merchandise, managing rack cards, and closing the gift shop car after excursions.

  • Must provide prompt, courteous service and engage customers effectively.

  • Ability to manage payments and maintain till accountability throughout the shift.

  • Ability to support retail operations and inventory management, including stocking shelves and maintaining orderly displays.

Duties and Assignments:

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and courteous service to patrons visiting the gift shop at the station or onboard during excursions.

  • Engage with customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and tour guide capacity while monitoring all activity throughout the gift shop.

  • Collect payments and responsibly manage the assigned till from the beginning of the shift through the end of the excursion.

  • Maintain gift shop inventory by stocking shelves, keeping work and storage areas clean, and ensuring merchandise is orderly and visually appealing.

  • Assist with managing the gift shop at the station and onboard during excursions, including the transfer of merchandise and rack cards.

  • Close the gift shop car after excursions, ensuring security, cleanliness, and proper storage.

  • Complete cross-training and perform any additional duties or projects as assigned.
