Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad is currently accepting applications for Car Hosts to join our team for scenic train excursions. A Car Host, also known as a Passenger Service Attendant (PSA), is responsible for overseeing designated passenger cars during excursions. Responsibilities may vary based on the car type but typically include managing passenger seat assignments, making announcements, assisting with boarding, seating, and deboarding, monitoring the safe operation of onboard systems, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment within the car.
Passenger Service Attendants also serve as tour guides by assisting passengers with eagle sightings and providing knowledgeable information about the area, railroad, and notable sights along the route.
PSAs are responsible for housekeeping tasks, including window and door management, seat cleaning, bathroom checks, floor maintenance, window cleaning, and trash removal. They must follow proper sanitation practices and perform routine upkeep to maintain a clean and orderly appearance in the passenger car.
This position requires strong hospitality and customer service skills. PSAs are also cross-trained to serve as waitstaff when needed.
PSAs play an important role in providing menus to Coach passengers, helping streamline service in the Concessions car, reducing congestion, and assisting all passengers, particularly those with limited mobility. They may also be assigned additional responsibilities in Standard Dining based on operational needs.
