Looking for an all day getaway? Begin by boarding the train at Wappocomo Station in Romney and ride the rails through Hampshire, Hardy, and Grant counties. Journey across sweeping valleys, experience a wild and wonderful canyon, and enjoy delightful views of Almost Heaven, West Virginia around every bend. This is a longer version of the Trough Canyon trip which goes further south to the end of our line in Petersburg. Approximately 76 miles.

Arrive at the historic South Side Depot for an authentic Appalachian layover as you shop, snack, and explore this gateway town to the beautiful Monongahela National Forest. The Depot is a homey artistic store which boasts crafts, music, pottery, photography, souvenirs, and more. Sample and shop West Virginia food, wine, moonshine, and hard cider as you stroll along the local businesses. Consider an educational/historical tour during the layover to visit the nearby trout hatchery and learn why Petersburg is the “Home of the Golden Trout.” Other cultural tours to be announced.

To cancel your ticket, you must inform Potomac Eagle by 5PM the day before.
At this time no outside food or beverages will be allowed to be brought on the train! If you need to carry on a small cooler for medical purposes such as insulin injections then please inform the reservation office before the time of the trains departure.
Tickets that Include meal service require an advanced reservation. To cancel reservations involving meal service, cancellation must be made more than a week prior to departure date to obtain your full in house credit. A service fee will be deducted from your inhouse credit if meal service is cancelled less than one week prior to your excursion.
