Travel through the Trough to Petersburg, WV!
From May to October, we offer an 9-hour trip to Petersburg on the last Saturday of the month. During this trip, you’ll have a layover in Petersburg where you get to explore the quaint town and enjoy the unique shops and restaurants offered there.
This is a longer version of the Trough Trip; it goes further south, to the end of the line, through Moorefield and into Petersburg. (It is approximately 76 miles round-trip.) There is a layover in Petersburg, about 1 1/2 to 3 hours long. Passengers have time to enjoy the South Side Depot as well as shops and restaurants.
Both southbound trips travel through the Trough, where bald eagles nest!
Arrive at the historic South Side Depot in Petersburg, your gateway to the Monongahela National Forest, and experience a touch of regional charm. Browse a curated selection of crafts, pottery, and local souvenirs, while enjoying an array of food, wines, and hard cider products. As you explore the town, delve into its rich history at the Court House museum or Fort Mulligan. Petersburg invites you to savor unique local flavors and uncover its fascinating heritage, making for a memorable and immersive visit.

Explore your casual-yet-classy side in our Standard Dining Cars. Enjoy your railway boxed lunch served in our vintage coach cars. Tabletop/chair style seating creates a comfortable and nostalgic trip. These cars have limited heating and windows which open and close to provide great viewing and ventilation.
Standard Dining
(Boxed Lunch) -
Our 1920s coaches are great for groups and families. The cars have cushioned, bench-style seats with reversible backs so passengers can face in either direction and enjoy the scenery. The windows offer abundant views and can be opened for refreshment. The coach cars do not have total climate control, but there is limited heat availability and meal service provided by the concession car.
